Rotterdam is Europe’s most important port
Samir Awad, Managing Director of Petrobras Netherlands B.V.
The Port of Rotterdam is the biggest port in Europe. For many years running, Rotterdam’s port has been by far the largest, handling more cargo than any other European port. Rotterdam is sure to retain this top position as it is set to reclaim 2,000 hectares (5,000 acres) of land from the sea for new port facilities The port is also one of the four most important ports in the world.
Biggest industrial cluster
Rotterdam’s port and surrounding industry make up the largest industrial cluster in Northwest Europe. With a depth of 24 meters (75 feet), even the largest sea-going vessels can access our port without restrictions, twenty-four hours a day, seven days a week. Rotterdam is the hub for a wide range of liquid bulk products, dry bulk and containers.
Energy Port of Europe
Apart from our vast petrochemical cluster, Rotterdam is now also developing rapidly into the Energy Port of Europe
Gateway to Europe
Rotterdam has deservedly earned the title the ‘Gateway to Europe’. Rotterdam is the logistic hub of Europe and is therefore optimally equipped for storage, transshipment and further shipment of goods. This makes our city the obvious place of business for European main offices, trade offices and logistics companies.
